YOUR FREEDOM. YOUR FUTURE.
San Diego White Collar Crime Defense Lawyer
Financial allegations can threaten your livelihood, assets, and freedom. A strong defense requires careful attention to transactions, authority, intent, and the records behind the accusation.

Understanding white collar allegations
White collar crime commonly describes financially motivated misconduct involving deception, misuse of trust, or unlawful transactions. Cases may involve California or federal law and substantial documentary and digital evidence. A business dispute, accounting error, or loss alone does not establish criminal intent.
Counsel should identify the particular offense and examine what the accused knew, was authorized to do, and actually did. Early representation can help preserve favorable records and respond appropriately to subpoenas or investigator contact.
Bribery, embezzlement, and extortion
Bribery concerns a corrupt exchange intended to influence covered conduct. Embezzlement generally involves fraudulent appropriation of entrusted property. Extortion can involve obtaining property or other covered benefits through wrongful force or fear. Each has distinct elements; the value, relationship, and communications can affect classification and potential punishment.
Authorization, a legitimate claim or transaction, lack of fraudulent intent, mistaken identity, and unreliable valuation may be relevant depending on the offense. Repayment does not automatically erase a crime, although restitution and mitigation may be important in a resolution.
Securities, money laundering, and counterfeiting
Insider-trading allegations involve securities laws and use or disclosure of material nonpublic information under the applicable legal requirements. Money laundering concerns specified transactions involving criminal proceeds and required knowledge or intent. Counterfeiting can involve currency, securities, or goods, with different state and federal statutes.
Complex transaction chains do not substitute for proof. Counsel can examine bank records, account control, business practices, digital attribution, expert conclusions, and lawful evidence collection. Penalties may include custody, restitution, fines, forfeiture, licensing effects, and immigration consequences; there is no single sentence for every financial case.
